Generally speaking, when we when to grandma’s and had dinner, it was a wonderful time. On one hand, the atmosphere was great, love was there and of course, the food was awesome. For this reason, these good recipes could not be hidden anymore. For example, this is a recipe for some very delicious cornbread that was made by our grandmothers.


In addition, to the recipe being delicious, it is also moist and not too heavy, like you find in some cornbread recipes or boxed mixes. In conclusion, don’t take my word for it, make some and try it for yourself. So, let’s get started!

Preparation: 15 minutes

Cook time: 10 to 25 minutes

Servings: 9 to 12

Temperature: 350℉/176.6℃

What you are going to need:

 1½ cup Cornmeal
 ½ cup Flour
 ¾ cup Sugar
 4 teaspoons Baking Powder
 ½ teaspoon Salt
 1 cup Milk
 ½ cup Shortening (soft)
 1 Egg (beaten)
 Mixer
 Mixing bowl
 Spoon
 1 9×9 Pan/12 standard Muffin/24-28 mini Muffin

Let’s mix up some cornbread:

Preheat oven to 350℉/176.6℃

First of all, in the mixing bowl, you are going to want to add the ingredients of 1 cup Milkmilk, 1 Egg (beaten) eggs and very soft ½ cup Shortening (soften)shortening.Then, with the mixer, you are going to mix these ingredients together until well blended. Next, take your 1½ cups Cornmealcornmeal, ½ cup Flourflour, 4 tsp. Baking Powderbaking powder, and ½ tsp. Saltsalt, and mix these ingredients together.After that, take your milk mixture and your dry ingredients mixture and, on low, blend these ingredients together until well blended. Next, you are going to want to add the ¾ cup Sugarsugar, it may be added while blending. Hence, the sugar does give the cornbread a more distinctive taste, which is, personally, more delicious. However, you can substitute the sugar with ¾ cup Honey honey.


Cooking the cornbread:

9×9 Baking Pan:

First, you need to start by adding some cooking spray or shortening to your pan. Next, take your cornbread batter and evenly distribute it throughout the pan. Finally, place in oven for 25 minutes.

12 Standard Muffin Pan:

Here, you can use either muffin cups or spray cooking spray on the pan. Then, take your cornbread mixture and fill about ¾ from top. Finally, place in oven about 13 minutes

24-28 Mini Muffin Pan:

Likewise, the same as the 12 standard muffins but smaller. Use small muffin cups or cooking spray and fill ¾ from top. And, finally place in oven for 10 minutes.

Note: The best way to make them, is traditionally in the 9×9 pan.

In other words, make some tonight with some chili or meatloaf for dinner!
